Brainster is an EdTech company offering K-10 Math and English afterschool enrichment programs at an affordable price to immigrant families in the US and Canada.

We are on a mission to:

• Help improve grade level performance of students
• Prepare students for college and high school math, science and language courses
• Passionate entrepreneurs founded the company with experience in mathematics and finance.
• The founder is an IIT-IIM grad and was previously a derivatives trading executive at Goldman Sachs and BNP Paribas and a partner at a private equity fund.
• The curriculum has been developed with a combination of NLP, Deep Learning and machine learning technologies using Python.

Role: 

This is a full-time founding engineer role, and we are looking for a candidate who can help build the entire development team around him/her and grow into a CTO role spanning multiple businesses.

• Develop a responsive web app to deliver math and English content 
• Be able to create beautiful front-end experience for users
• Be able to lead all aspects of web development including software design, task allocation,implementation, testing, documentation, ongoing support, and maintenance.
• Build custom learning management system from scratch or integrate 3rd party LMS to manage student learning plans
• Develop scalable application that can support 1000s of simultaneous users
• Create and consume REST APIs from model outputs

Technical Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional experience in web application development.
• Web UI development experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and similar technologies.
• Understand frameworks like MathJAX is mission critical 
• Experience with large systems software design including storage, networking, deployment, and scaling methodologies.
• Experience with AWS/Azure and its suite of serving, hosting, and storage services.
• Able to read and understand code written in Python

• Ability to take ideas and execute on time
• Excellent communication skills required
• Self-starter and ability to drive projects forward with limited oversight
• Proven leadership abilities

Salary Information:

• For a ninja level programmer, we are willing topay equity in the company on top of the salary.
• We are fully remote currently. 2 months per year to be spent at the head office in Toronto after the COVID-19 situation improves.
